The vinyl record – so much better than a CD or cassette. The least said about streaming the better. Sure it’s easier and you can have your entire music collection in your pocket, but does it sound the same?
This discussion has continued for years as vinyl has seen numerous resurgences into popular society. In the mid-fifties LP’s (long players) started to replace the 78rpm. The 78 started in the late 1800s, were fragile and had a quality that was certainly questionable. There were notes written but this only consisted of basic recording information.
However, for the 33 1/3 speed LP, it was different. A cardboard cover was a thing of beauty to gaze at for hours and the record inside was protected by a paper sleeve(the liner). Upon this were notes – hence liner notes.
