Lockdown and home learning is here again. As I teacher, I know what children are missing out on by being at home and as vital as Maths and English are, your child's well being is far more important. You may be finding it difficult and a little demoralising. Children are trying their best with home learning and you are trying your best at keeping them motivated. There has been much talk about mental health and how this time will affect our children. Here is something to help. It's not going to help with your times tables skills or tell you what a fronted adverbial is, but what it will do is give your child the opportunity to think about what they are grateful for, what emotions they have been feeling, and how they can address this. They can think about their goals in these new and unusual times and what they want to achieve, not just at school but within themselves. Each week they set goals and say what they are grateful for. They can choose from the list of positive affirmations and start to feel much better about themselves. At the end of the week, they reflect on what has passed and how they are going to reward themselves.
